How to read a reliability comparison
Raw complaint counts are close to meaningless on their own, because they track sales volume as much as quality: a vehicle that sold three times as many units will usually collect three times as many complaints while being no worse. What matters is concentration — whether the complaints cluster on one component. Twenty complaints all naming the same transmission tell you more than four hundred spread evenly across every system on the car.
The second thing to weigh is severity. A vehicle with many infotainment complaints and a vehicle with many brake complaints can look similar in a count. They are not similar. Our symptom guides grade each fault as stop-driving, fix-soon or schedule-it, which is the axis a spec sheet never shows you.
Whichever you choose
