Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

This policy explains what carfailure.com collects and what it does not.

What stays on your device

The symptom checker on this site stores your vehicle details, saved symptoms and repair log entries in your browser's local storage — on your device only. We do not receive that data, we cannot see it, and it is not transmitted to any server we control. Clearing your browser data deletes it permanently and we have no copy to restore.

You can erase everything the checker has stored at any time using the erase option inside the tool.

What is processed when you use the checker

When you request an AI-assisted reading of a symptom, the symptom text you typed and any vehicle details you entered are sent to our server and to a third-party AI model provider in order to generate a response. This text is processed to produce your answer and to cache responses for performance. Do not enter personal information, names, addresses, or identifying details into the symptom box — it is not needed and should not be included.

Anonymous request data (such as truncated IP-derived rate-limiting counters) may be used to prevent abuse of the free service.

Cookies, advertising and analytics

This site uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, and third parties may set cookies for advertising and measurement.

Google AdSense: Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites, and to measure ad performance. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

Affiliate links: when you click a product link, the retailer may set a cookie to attribute a subsequent purchase to this site. That process is controlled by the retailer under their own privacy policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies does not affect the symptom checker's core functionality.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information. Because this site collects minimal personal data and stores checker data only on your own device, most requests can be satisfied by clearing your browser storage.

For any privacy request or question, contact hello@carfailure.com. Residents of California, the EEA, and the UK may have additional statutory rights; describe your request and we will respond.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be noted on this page.
